How to Generate Revenue from a “Free” App: 4 Modest Conspiracies.

The price tag of an app often becomes a barrier for people to download it whilst acting reluctant to generate money. This is why counter intuitive that a free app became an easy mode to generate revenue.

So how do you make money from a free app?  Let’s see a few surprising strategies.

Get Users First Monetize Later

Let’s take an example to illustrate how this works. Whatsapp which was acquired by Facebook for a staggering $19 Billion, on the surface, has no revenue model which means no subscription fees or mobile ads. But see they do have a lot of users with 18 billion transactions a day.

As simple this model is defined to be getting the users first and monetize later regardless to the data size, advertising or something else.

Act As a Vehicle To Deleiver Quality Service / Product:

Few examples for this model will be

·         Uber, a mobile app where users can request and pay for a ride sharing service.

·         Doctors on Demand application let users to get a consultation from a licensed physician through a video conference for $40 for 15 minutes

·         Besides, there are many online shopping apps to purchase pretty much anything and everything.

Mobile Advertising Is An Aid:

Almost projected to reach $31.5 Billion this year alone, many mobile ad companies have sprouted with various revenue models most of them in conjunction with apps that have in-app purchase and consequently allows a free app to generate revenue even if the user doesn’t make any in-app purchases.

In-App Purchase Otherwise the “Freemium” Model

Whilst your users are getting purchase an app for absolute free price, they are provided with an opportunity to purchase additional services.  Not to forget, Apple retains 30% of the revenue generated from this mechanism.

·         Unlocking “Pro” Version of the App besides unlocking varied features

·         Allowing the app to work after a trial period

·         Disabling ads is currently the highest grossing app strategies.

·         Including additional content like a song, story, game level, etc

Winding up, all that i want to say is if you want to develop an app for profit- launch it “free” is the way to go.

How Apple Watch Can Potentially Impact Gaming Apps

Gaming might seem an obvious vertical for wearable due to the small screen size but who can miss the fun part of it? When the Apple Watch was announced, expanding communication, health tracking, navigation and more started to the main objective undoubtedly a signal to uptick in appdevelopment.

Here are some of the best brainstormed all-possible ideas for game creators that would work within the hardware's restrictions.

Save Time and Energy

In general, a freemium game works by asking for your time instead of putting in money.  Since you have to constantly check in, or risk missing the benefit of your newly generated energy critical for completing tasks, these games allow a certain number of actions as in like must wait for their energy to replenish or purchase more.

For those, Apple Watch will turn out to be a quick way to interface with game and save time.

Creativity- Gamification of Your Activity

With the robust fitness tracking on the Apple Watch, you can experience a new life. Exercising toward a goal or purpose tracked in a game is more creative than just adding points to a number.

Aside from this, if running with Apple Watch unlocking new worlds to explore in a game, then it could be more motivational. How about climbing more stairs than your friends meant your virtual army was able to overtake theirs? Cool, isn’t it?

Digital Crown to Help Scrolling and Zooming

As Apple's team demonstrated a touch screen causes a lot of difficulties on a watch face because your fingers obscure your view. This is when digital crown came in which utilizes the crown's rotation for activities.

A simple with one-touch control! As long as the mechanics are simple, games can be picked up and put away during downtime is an obvious one.

The Next Iteration of Apple’s IOS 8- Split-Screen Apps

IOS 8, the next iteration of Apple's mobile operating system comes with a new feature- split screen apps support. This allows users to run multiple apps on the display in one-quarter size, one-half size, or three-quarter size, simultaneously.

Let’s talk more about this feature in this post....what if you kick-start your next project in a new space.

Controversies with Side-By-Side App Support

Already supported in Google's Android mobile operating system, Side-by-side app support is a highly coveted feature. It is also seen as critical toward turning iOS devices, the iPad in particular, into true productivity tools along the same lines as a laptop or desktop PC.

On a debut held in Aug, 2014 at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, the ability to support split-screen apps despite showing off several improvements- that includes support for sharing on-screen content in iOS with a Mac- the side-by-side app support was not announced.

Side-By-Side App Support for Apple's iPads

However, if the feature is built into iOS 8 it would likely be most useful on Apple's iPads. The advantages of this feature are as follow:

Ø  Allow users to have one app open on the left side of the display and another on the right side. This way increases multitasking abilities such as reading the news while videoconferencing or checking email while catching up on social networks.

Ø  Conceivably come to iPhones but smaller displays typically don't handle the side-by-side effect as well because of the limited real estate.

If Apple comes out with a larger display for the next iPhone than the current 4-inch screen of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5, then this feature has a great future, says experts. And there are many rumours of what Apple plans to launch iOS 8, many changes, additions, and omissions can be made.
